Getting started with Ludo

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

One thing to notice as you play

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Refer to the controls when needed.

What counts as success

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Take a moment to understand the current position.

The playing sequence

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Your inputs

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Use one clear input at a time.

Work through an example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the controls nearby.

A useful caution

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
